Understand Lingering Transmutation
Useful when…
- Keep the Probe near the cast position after it reaches maximum range.
- Recall the Probe by recasting, or end the effect with another recast.
Probe behavior
At rank 0, the Probe returns to the cast position after reaching maximum range and remains nearby for 6 seconds. This duration rises to 12 seconds at rank 2 and 15 seconds at rank 3. Recast to recall the Probe; recast again to end the effect. The augment's description specifies this sequence but does not quantify other Probe effects.
Fitting and investment
This Rare standard mod is for Lavos, has Zenurik polarity, base drain 6, and a maximum rank of 3. The listed rank steps cost 30, 60, and 120 Endo, with corresponding listed Credit costs of 1,449, 2,898, and 5,796. The final rank adds three seconds of nearby duration over rank 2; that increment is useful only if the longer window matters to your Probe use.
Other Lavos augments
Swift Bite modifies Ophidian Bite, granting additional ability range and reducing cooldowns when at least four enemies are hit. Valence Formation affects weapons after casting an ability imbued with extra elemental damage. Both have different triggers and ability interactions; they do not extend or recall Transmutation Probe.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- Uses a standard Lavos mod slot and has base drain 6.
- The added duration scales with rank, while the recall and end behavior is described as part of the augment effect.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Assuming the Probe stays nearby indefinitely; its listed duration tops out at 15 seconds.
- Confusing the first recast, which recalls the Probe, with the subsequent recast that ends the effect.
