Understand Swift Bite
Useful when…
- Use on Lavos when Ophidian Bite is part of your ability use and you can regularly hit four or more enemies.
- Consider it for crowded encounters where its range and conditional cooldown reduction can both matter.
What does Swift Bite change?
The augment gives Ophidian Bite additional Ability Range and reduces Ability Cooldowns when at least four enemies are hit. At rank 0, the range bonus is 15% and the reduction is 1 second; rank 2 gives 25% and 3 seconds; maximum rank gives 30% and 4 seconds. The four-enemy condition applies to the cooldown reduction.
Compatibility and ranking
Swift Bite is a standard Lavos mod with Zenurik polarity, base drain 6, and three ranks. Ranking improves the range bonus and cooldown reduction. The listed fusion costs increase by rank, reaching 120 Endo and 5,796 Credits for the rank 2-to-3 step; invest further when the increased benefits justify that cost for your use.
How it compares with other Lavos augments
Lingering Transmutation changes Transmutation Probe: it returns at maximum range, stays nearby for 15 seconds, and can be recalled or ended by recasting. Valence Formation instead makes an ability cast with extra elemental damage give weapons that element as a 200% bonus with guaranteed Status for 20 seconds. These serve different ability and weapon plans; neither duplicates Swift Bite's conditional cooldown reduction and Ophidian Bite range.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The cooldown reduction requires hitting at least four enemies with Ophidian Bite.
- The augment occupies a mod slot and has base drain 6.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Expecting cooldown reduction when fewer than four enemies are hit.
- Treating the listed cooldown reduction as a reduction to only Ophidian Bite; the effect says Ability Cooldowns.
