Magnetic Strafe

Shotgun damage and fire-rate mod

Released Dec 13, 2024

Magnetic Strafe adds Magnetic damage and fire rate to a compatible shotgun. Consider it when you want both bonuses in a standard mod slot and the shotgun’s capacity can support it.

Magnetic Strafe GUIDE

Understand Magnetic Strafe

Useful when…

  • Adding Magnetic damage and faster fire rate to a shotgun.
  • Fitting a Madurai-polarity mod in a matching shotgun slot.

Effects by rank

At maximum rank, Magnetic Strafe gives +60% Magnetic and +40% Fire Rate. Rank 0 gives +15% Magnetic and +10% Fire Rate; rank 2 gives +45% and +30%. These are mod bonuses rather than a computed final damage result.

Slot and fusion costs

The Rare, standard shotgun mod has Madurai polarity, base drain 4, and maximum rank 3. The listed fusion steps cost 30 Endo and 1,449 Credits to reach rank 1; 60 Endo and 2,898 Credits to reach rank 2; and 120 Endo and 5,796 Credits to reach rank 3. Each rank increases both bonuses, so choose investment based on how much capacity and Endo you can commit.

Compare fire-rate choices

Accelerated Blast gives +60% Fire Rate and +60% Puncture, with base drain 6 and maximum rank 3. Amalgam Shotgun Barrage gives +85% Fire Rate and +45% Revive Speed. Magnetic Strafe instead pairs +40% Fire Rate with +60% Magnetic at maximum rank. Magnetic Welt has a different condition: Impact status effects have a chance to apply Magnetic, with its chance doubled when Fire Rate is below 2.5. These options differ in damage type, utility, and trigger; they are not interchangeable bonuses.

Limitations and tradeoffs

  • The combined bonus is useful when both Magnetic damage and Fire Rate matter; the mod occupies a standard slot and has base drain 4.
  • Other listed fire-rate options add different second effects, so compare their specific bonuses and costs rather than treating them as equivalent.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Do not interpret the +60% Magnetic and +40% Fire Rate bonuses as a final damage calculation.
  • Do not assume Magnetic Welt applies Magnetic on every Impact status effect; it has a stated chance and Fire Rate condition.
