Understand Maim
Useful when…
- Increasing Slash damage on a compatible pistol.
- Choosing a direct Slash bonus rather than a mod that adds Status Chance or applies Slash through a trigger.
Slash bonus by rank
At maximum rank, Maim gives +120% Slash. Rank 0 gives +20%, and rank 3 gives +80%. This is a Slash-damage mod bonus, not a complete weapon damage calculation.
Slot and fusion costs
Maim is a Rare, standard pistol mod with Naramon polarity, base drain 6, and maximum rank 5. The supplied fusion examples are 30 Endo and 1,449 Credits to reach rank 1, 120 Endo and 5,796 Credits to reach rank 3, and 480 Endo and 23,184 Credits to reach rank 5. Rank investment increases the Slash bonus, with higher ranks costing more.
Distinguish similar Slash effects
Carnis Stinger gives +90% Slash and +60% Status Chance, pairing Slash with a second stat. Flawed Razor Shot gives +30% Slash. Hemorrhage has a different trigger: Impact status effects have a 35% chance to apply a Slash status effect, doubled when Fire Rate is below 2.5. Maim’s listed effect is a direct Slash bonus, not a status-application trigger.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- Maim uses a standard slot with base drain 6 and adds only the listed Slash bonus.
- Hemorrhage requires an Impact status effect and has a Fire Rate condition for its doubled chance; it is not the same effect as Maim.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Do not interpret +120% Slash as +120% total final damage.
- Do not confuse direct Slash damage with Hemorrhage’s conditional Slash status application.
