Understand Master Thief
Useful when…
- Adding a chance-based locker-unlocking effect to a Warframe.
- Using its exilus slot for a utility effect rather than a combat bonus.
Effect and slot
Master Thief grants +10% chance at rank 0, +30% at rank 2, and +40% at rank 3 to unlock locked lockers. It is a standard Warframe exilus mod with Naramon polarity, base drain 10, and maximum rank 3.
Practical tradeoffs
The effect is a chance, so it does not guarantee that a locked locker opens. Its exilus slot and base drain are meaningful build considerations. Fortitude provides knockdown resistance and shield recharge, Archon Flow supports energy capacity and a conditional orb drop, and Peculiar Audience has an enemy-kill-triggered cosmetic effect; these candidates have different roles rather than duplicating locker access.
Rank investment and sources
The listed steps cost 30, 60, and 120 Endo and 1,449, 2,898, and 5,796 Credits. Rank increases the unlock chance. The supplied drop entries include several sources, among them Scorpion variants at 0.03% and Ghoul Expired at 0.2%; other entries list rotation rewards. These are source-specific chances, not a guarantee of acquisition.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- A chance-based utility effect competes for an exilus slot and has base drain 10.
- Higher ranks improve the chance but require Endo and Credits.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Treating +40% chance as a guarantee.
- Forgetting that the mod occupies an exilus slot.
