Understand Molecular Fission
Useful when…
- Recovering Null Star charges by killing enemies primed by Null Stars.
- Improving the chance of recovering two charges at higher augment ranks.
Effect and condition
Enemies hit by Null Stars are primed. When a primed enemy is killed, it restores one Null Star charge; the chance to restore two rises from 25% at rank 0 to 75% at rank 2 and 100% at rank 3. It is a standard-slot Nova Mod with Zenurik polarity, base drain 6, and maximum rank 3.
Use and investment
The charge-return condition requires both a Null Star hit that primes the enemy and that enemy’s death. Rank 0→1 costs 30 Endo and 1,449 Credits; rank 2→3 costs 120 Endo and 5,796 Credits. Higher ranks improve only the listed chance of the second charge; the guaranteed one-charge return is stated at every rank.
Other Nova augments
Neutron Star changes Null Stars to deal Heat damage with a guaranteed Status effect and specifies behavior on recast. Antimatter Absorb modifies Antimatter Drop by absorbing nearby enemy bullets; Antimatter Mine is a Conclave variant with a stationary orb. These address different abilities or modes and do not provide Molecular Fission’s listed charge-return condition.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- It depends on enemies being hit by Null Stars and then killed.
- It occupies a standard Mod slot and has base drain 6.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Expecting charge restoration from enemies that were not hit by Null Stars and primed.
- Assuming the 100% chance at rank 3 means more than the stated chance to restore two charges.
