Understand Pathogen Rounds
Useful when…
- Use on a pistol when a Toxin bonus fits the damage setup and available capacity.
- Use the flawed version as a lower-drain alternative if its smaller Toxin bonus is sufficient.
Effect and application
Pathogen Rounds adds a Toxin bonus to pistols: 15% at rank 0, 60% at rank 3, and 90% at rank 5. It is a standard pistol mod with Naramon polarity, base drain 6, and maximum rank 5.
Rank investment
The rank 2-to-3 step costs 80 Endo and 3,864 Credits for a listed 60% Toxin bonus; the final step costs 320 Endo and 15,456 Credits for 90%. If capacity or resources are limited, stopping before max rank preserves resources at the cost of some bonus. The flawed mod reaches 40% at rank 3 with base drain 4, a smaller but lower-drain option. Neither mod can be equipped with the other because they are explicitly incompatible.
Build fit and exclusions
Accelerated Isotope adds Radiation and Fire Rate, so it addresses different listed stats rather than matching Pathogen Rounds’ Toxin bonus. Air Recon is a Conclave Exilus mod that reduces zoom while aim gliding; it is not a standard pistol damage mod. Consider those distinctions before treating either as a substitute.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- Base drain is 6, compared with 4 for the flawed version.
- Higher ranks cost more Endo and Credits for additional Toxin bonus.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Equipping the flawed and standard versions together despite their listed incompatibility.
- Confusing a listed Toxin bonus with final weapon damage.
