Understand Flawed Pathogen Rounds
Useful when…
- Use on a pistol when adding Toxin is useful and the standard version is unavailable or its higher drain is not suitable.
- Replace it with standard Pathogen Rounds when that version better fits the weapon’s capacity and build.
What does it add?
The flawed mod adds Toxin damage to pistols: 10% at rank 0, 30% at rank 2, and 40% at rank 3. It is a standard pistol mod with Naramon polarity and base drain 4.
Rank and capacity tradeoff
It reaches its maximum listed effect at rank 3, with the rank 2-to-3 step costing 80 Endo and 3,864 Credits. Because it is flawed, it has a lower listed maximum than standard Pathogen Rounds, but also lower base drain: 4 rather than 6. The standard version reaches 90% Toxin at rank 5. Choose between the lower drain and the higher listed bonus based on available capacity and intended build; these values are mod bonuses, not final weapon damage.
Compatibility and exclusions
The flawed version explicitly lists Pathogen Rounds as incompatible, so the two cannot be equipped together. Accelerated Isotope is a separate pistol mod that adds Radiation and Fire Rate, not a direct replacement for Toxin. Air Recon is a Conclave Exilus mod for reduced zoom while aim gliding, rather than a standard damage mod.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- Lower base drain than the standard version, but a lower maximum listed Toxin bonus.
- Cannot be equipped alongside Pathogen Rounds.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Trying to equip it with Pathogen Rounds despite the explicit incompatibility.
- Treating its 40% Toxin bonus as final weapon damage.
