Understand Pilfering Swarm
Useful when…
- Add an additional-loot chance to enemies held by Tentacle Swarm.
- Rank it to increase that chance, reaching 100% at rank 3.
What is the effect and its condition?
Enemies must be held by Tentacle Swarm’s tentacles to receive the additional-drop chance. The chance is 25% at rank 0, 75% at rank 2, and 100% at rank 3. The effect is tied to enemies held by the tentacles, not an unconditional bonus to all enemies.
When should you use it?
Consider Pilfering Swarm when Tentacle Swarm is part of your Hydroid setup and enemies are being held by its tentacles. The augment does not describe a weapon damage increase or an effect on enemies that are not held.
Rank and investment
This Rare standard Hydroid mod has Zenurik polarity, base drain 6, and a maximum rank of 3. Ranking it raises the listed chance to 100% at maximum rank; its final listed upgrade step costs 120 Endo and 5,796 Credits. That investment directly increases the chance for enemies meeting the hold condition.
How it differs from other Hydroid augments
Viral Tempest adds Viral status through Tempest Barrage projectiles; Rousing Plunder adds Corrosive damage and Armor to Plunder and heals allies within Affinity range; Tidal Impunity clears status effects and grants status immunity to Hydroid and allies who contact Tidal Surge. These serve different ability goals and do not supply Pilfering Swarm’s stated loot effect.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- Requires Hydroid and a standard mod slot.
- The loot effect only covers enemies held by Tentacle Swarm.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Treating the effect as applying to every enemy regardless of whether tentacles hold them.
- Leaving the mod at a lower rank while expecting the maximum 100% listed chance.
