Understand Primed Counterbalance
Useful when…
- Reducing recoil while firing a compatible shotgun.
- Using an Exilus-slot option for recoil control instead of a standard-slot damage or fire-rate mod.
Effect and slot
Primed Counterbalance reduces Weapon Recoil: 7.7% at rank 0, 46.4% at rank 5, and 85% at rank 10. It is a shotgun Exilus mod with Naramon polarity and base drain 2. This is a handling improvement, not a damage bonus.
Ranking and alternatives
The mod reaches rank 10, but rank 5 already reduces recoil by 46.4%. The jump from rank 9 to 10 costs 20,480 Endo and 989,184 Credits, so that last increase is best reserved for a build that benefits from the stronger recoil reduction. Regular Counterbalance is also an Exilus shotgun mod with Naramon polarity; it provides up to -60% recoil and has base drain 6. Accelerated Blast and Amalgam Shotgun Barrage occupy standard slots and offer other effects, so they are not direct Exilus recoil substitutes.
Incompatibility
It cannot be equipped alongside Counterbalance. Decide whether the stronger recoil reduction merits the Exilus slot; the input does not describe weapon-specific recoil values or guarantee that every shotgun needs this correction.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- Uses the shotgun Exilus slot, so the choice is a handling investment in that slot.
- The rank 9 to 10 increase requires 20,480 Endo and 989,184 Credits.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Assuming it adds damage or fire rate; its listed effect is recoil reduction.
- Trying to equip regular Counterbalance with it, despite the explicit incompatibility.
