Understand Primed Pack Leader
Useful when…
- Healing a Companion through melee hits.
- Using excess healing to build Overguard, with a higher maximum available at higher ranks.
Effect and values
At rank 0, each hit heals 17 Companion Health and the Overguard maximum is 200. At rank 5, those values are 100 Health per hit and 1,200 maximum Overguard; at rank 10, they are 183 Health per hit and 2,200 maximum Overguard. The description says excess healing grants Overguard. It is a standard Companion mod with Madurai polarity, base drain 4, and maximum rank 10.
When it fits
The effect is tied to melee hits, so it suits a setup where you make those hits and want them to support your Companion. Ranking raises both healing per hit and the listed Overguard cap. It does not describe a passive healing effect independent of melee hits.
Investment and alternatives
The mod reaches rank 10. Listed fusion examples include 1,280 Endo and 61,824 Credits from rank 5 to 6, and 20,480 Endo and 989,184 Credits from rank 9 to 10, so weigh the stronger healing and cap against the cost and standard slot. Pack Leader has the same described healing and Overguard mechanic, but the input supplies no rank values for that candidate. Accelerated Deflection instead concerns Companion shield recharge, while Aerial Bond has airborne-related effects; neither is a direct healing substitute.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- Healing depends on melee hits; the effect is not described as passive.
- Higher ranks improve healing and Overguard capacity but carry steep late fusion costs.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Expecting healing without melee hits.
- Treating the listed Overguard maximum as the amount granted by each hit.
- Ignoring the rank-dependent fusion costs when pursuing the higher healing values.
