Razor Shot

Pistol damage mod

Released Nov 20, 2013

Razor Shot adds Slash damage to compatible pistols. Consider it when you want to increase a pistol’s Slash component and can spare a standard mod slot; it does not add a flat amount of damage.

Understand Razor Shot

Useful when…

  • Add Slash damage to a pistol build with room for a standard mod slot.
  • Compare its full-rank bonus with the lower-ranked Flawed Razor Shot if choosing between the two variants.

What does it do?

At rank 0, Razor Shot grants +15% Slash; at rank 3 it grants +60%; at rank 5 it grants +90%. It is a standard pistol mod with Naramon polarity, a base drain of 2, and a maximum rank of 5. The listed percentage is a mod bonus, not the pistol’s final damage.

When is it useful?

Use it when increasing Slash on a compatible pistol is relevant to your build. Accelerated Isotope offers Radiation damage and fire rate instead, so it supports different damage and handling goals. Air Recon is a Conclave Exilus mod that reduces zoom while aim gliding; it does not serve as a direct damage substitute.

How should you rank it?

Fusion raises the bonus from +15% at rank 0 to +90% at rank 5. The listed example costs rise from 20 Endo and 966 Credits for rank 0 to 1, to 320 Endo and 15,456 Credits for rank 4 to 5. Stop at a lower rank if the added capacity and fusion cost matter more than the extra Slash bonus. Its Naramon polarity can match a same-polarity slot; applying a mod with a mismatched polarity affects capacity use.

Variant and compatibility

Razor Shot is compatible with pistols and cannot be equipped alongside Flawed Razor Shot, its named incompatible variant. The flawed version has a lower listed maximum bonus (+30% Slash), a maximum rank of 3, the same Naramon polarity and base drain of 2. The supplied drop information lists several enemies and activities; it does not establish that any one source is currently available.

Limitations and tradeoffs

  • Ranking up increases Slash bonus but requires progressively greater listed fusion costs.
  • Uses a standard pistol slot that could hold a different pistol mod.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Treating +90% Slash as a guaranteed increase to total damage by the same amount.
  • Trying to equip Razor Shot and Flawed Razor Shot together.
  • Assuming Air Recon’s Conclave zoom effect replaces a damage mod.
