Understand Rifle Ammo Mutation
Useful when…
- Improve rifle ammunition supply by converting secondary-ammo pickups.
- Use its exilus slot when ammunition continuity is more useful than another exilus effect.
What it does
At rank 0, the mod converts secondary-ammo pickups to 8% of their ammo pickup amount; at rank 3, 33%; and at rank 5, 50%. It does not turn every pickup into a full rifle pickup: the converted amount is a fraction of the pickup amount. Its practical value depends on finding secondary ammo while your rifle needs ammunition.
Fit and investment
This Rare standard Rifle mod fits the exilus slot, has Naramon polarity, base drain 2, and a maximum rank of 5. Ranking it raises conversion from 8% to 50%; the listed step from rank 4 to 5 costs 480 Endo and 23,184 Credits. A low-rank copy can provide some conversion, while higher investment gives more from each eligible pickup. The mod is explicitly incompatible with Primed Rifle Ammo Mutation, so those two cannot be equipped together. The Primed version lists 92% conversion, but it is a standard-slot mod rather than an exilus mod.
When it helps
Use it when ammunition pickups for other weapon types are available but your rifle needs more reserves. It converts secondary ammo specifically; it does not list conversion from pistol or shotgun pickups. Guided Ordnance is another exilus mod, but its listed effect is improved accuracy while aiming after a hit, not ammunition conversion, so it serves a different purpose.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The conversion is partial, especially at low ranks, and applies to secondary-ammo pickups only.
- It occupies an exilus slot; the Primed version has a different slot type and is explicitly incompatible.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Expecting it to convert pickups other than secondary ammo.
- Expecting the listed conversion percentage to provide a full rifle ammo pickup.
- Trying to equip it together with Primed Rifle Ammo Mutation.
