Understand Sacrificial Steel
Useful when…
- Raise melee critical chance, with the listed bonus doubled for heavy attacks.
- Apply its separate listed damage multiplier against Sentients.
Critical chance and Sentient effect
At rank 0, Sacrificial Steel gives +20% critical chance, doubled for heavy attacks, plus a ×1.03 damage multiplier against Sentients. At rank 5, the values are +120% and ×1.18; at rank 10, they are +220% and ×1.33. The heavy-attack condition applies to critical chance; the Sentient multiplier is listed separately.
Compatibility and rank cost
This is a standard melee mod with Umbra polarity, base drain 6, and maximum rank 10. It is incompatible with True Steel, Galvanized Steel, Amalgam Ripkas True Steel, and Flawed True Steel. The rank 9-to-10 step costs 20,480 Endo and 989,184 Credits. The supplied rank effects list rank 10 values as +220% critical chance and ×1.33 damage against Sentients; they do not supply rank 9 values.
Related critical and heavy-attack effects
Flawed True Steel is listed at +80% critical chance and True Steel at +120%, with each bonus doubled for heavy attacks. Amalgam Organ Shatter instead grants +85% critical damage and +60% heavy-attack wind-up speed. Sacrificial Steel is incompatible with the listed True Steel variants.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The rank 9-to-10 step costs 20,480 Endo and 989,184 Credits.
- The mod is incompatible with the listed True Steel variants.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Applying the heavy-attack doubling to the Sentient multiplier instead of the critical-chance bonus.
- Trying to equip Sacrificial Steel with a listed incompatible True Steel mod.
- Inferring rank 9 values from the rank 9-to-10 fusion cost.
