Understand Security Override
Useful when…
- Automating console hacks with a MOA.
- Getting a chance to mind-control nearby basic robotic enemies or turrets after hacking.
Hack and control effects
At maximum rank 5, the MOA auto-hacks consoles over 2 seconds. After hacking, there is a 30% chance to mind-control basic robotic enemies and turrets within 30 m for 14 seconds. At rank 0, the hack takes 12 seconds, with a 5% chance and 4-second control duration; rank 3 lists a 6-second hack, 20% chance, and 10-second control duration. Mind control is chance-based and follows hacking.
Mod details and other MOA precepts
Security Override is a standard MOA mod with Penjaga polarity, maximum rank 5, and base drain 2. The compared MOA precepts offer different effects: Anti-Grav Grenade levitates enemies before they crash down, Whiplash Mine snares and pulls enemies that remain in range, and Blast Shield increases overshields and describes a leap that knocks down nearby enemies. Their listed effects do not include console hacking.
Fusion costs
Listed fusion costs are 10 Endo and 483 Credits for 0→1, 40 Endo and 1,932 Credits for 2→3, and 160 Endo and 7,728 Credits for 4→5. Higher listed ranks shorten the console-hack time and improve the chance and duration of the post-hack control effect.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- At maximum rank, a console hack takes 2 seconds, while the post-hack mind-control effect lasts 14 seconds when it triggers.
- The 30% control chance applies to basic robotic enemies and turrets within 30 m after hacking.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Expecting every hack to mind-control a target; the maximum-rank chance is 30%.
- Assuming it controls all enemy types; the description specifies basic robotic enemies and turrets.
