What does damage conversion do?
Sharpened Blade converts a share of melee damage into Slash: 5% at rank 0, 15% at rank 2, and 20% at rank 3. It is a Conclave mod for melee weapons, occupying a standard slot with Madurai polarity. This is a conversion bonus, not a statement of final weapon damage.
What are its exclusions and alternatives?
Sharpened Blade is explicitly incompatible with Counterweight and Serrated Edges, the listed Conclave melee mods that convert damage into Impact and Puncture respectively. You cannot equip those alongside it. Amalgam Organ Shatter is a standard-variant melee mod offering critical damage and heavy attack wind-up speed instead; it is a different effect and variant, not another damage-conversion option.
What is the rank tradeoff?
The mod reaches rank 3, increasing conversion from 5% to 20%. Fusion costs rise across the listed rank steps, so invest further when the additional Slash conversion is useful for your Conclave setup and capacity permits. Its base drain is 2.
