Shell Shock

Shotgun electricity and status-chance mod

Released Mar 5, 2014

Shell Shock adds Electricity and Status Chance to a shotgun, reaching +60% of each at rank 3. Consider it when both listed bonuses fit the weapon’s build and you can spare a standard mod slot.

Shell Shock GUIDE

Understand Shell Shock

Useful when…

  • Add Electricity and increase Status Chance on a compatible shotgun.

Effects and use

At rank 0 Shell Shock grants +15% Electricity and +15% Status Chance; rank 2 grants +45% of each, and rank 3 grants +60% of each. It combines an elemental bonus with status support, so its value depends on whether both effects help the intended weapon setup.

Slot and rank costs

This standard-slot shotgun mod has Madurai polarity, base drain 4, and a three-rank cap. The listed steps cost 30 Endo and 1,449 Credits, then 60 Endo and 2,898 Credits, then 120 Endo and 5,796 Credits. Rank it when the additional Electricity and status chance justify those resources and slot capacity.

Alternatives and limits

Frigid Blast is a comparable dual-stat shotgun mod, but it grants Cold rather than Electricity while also adding Status Chance. Galvanized Savvy instead lists a higher-rank status bonus and a kill-triggered direct-damage effect, so it is not a simple replacement for Shell Shock’s Electricity bonus. Choose by desired element and effect, not by assuming their bonuses are interchangeable.

Limitations and tradeoffs

  • Consumes a standard shotgun mod slot.
  • Its value depends on wanting both Electricity and added Status Chance.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Treating Electricity and Cold variants as identical when choosing an element.
  • Assuming the listed bonus directly states final weapon damage.
