Understand Shocking Speed
Useful when…
- Adding its proximity effect while moving under Speed.
- Using Volt’s augment slot for an ability-specific moving combat effect.
Effect and trigger
Shocking Speed is a standard Volt augment with Zenurik polarity and base drain 6. While Volt is moving under the effects of Speed, enemies within 3 m take Electricity damage with a guaranteed Status effect. The listed damage is 75 at rank 0, 225 at rank 2, and 300 at rank 3. Both the Speed effect and movement condition matter; the effect is not described as a passive aura while standing still.
Ranking and fit
The final rank increases listed damage from 225 to 300 over rank 2. Its fusion steps cost 30, 60, and 120 Endo and 1,449, 2,898, and 5,796 Credits. Decide whether that increase merits the added fusion cost and the augment slot, especially if the build does not regularly move close to enemies under Speed.
Related Volt choices
Shock Trooper augments Shock’s hold cast to buff nearby allies’ attacks, while Transistor Shield changes Electric Shield interactions. They do not reproduce Shocking Speed’s movement-triggered enemy effect. The Conclave augment Kinetic Collision is also distinct: it increases Speed duration when running into an opponent.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- Requires Speed to be active and Volt to be moving near enemies.
- Uses an augment slot and base drain 6 for a conditional proximity effect.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Expecting the effect while stationary or without Speed active.
- Confusing this standard augment with the Conclave Kinetic Collision augment.
