Understand Smoke Shadow
Useful when…
- Use Smoke Screen when allies are within the augment's radius to conceal them.
- Rank it when the larger ally radius and critical chance bonus are worth the mod investment.
Effect and conditions
Smoke Shadow is a Rare Ash augment with Zenurik polarity and base drain 6. At rank 0, it conceals allies within 8 m and grants 60% critical chance while invisible. At rank 2 those values are 12 m and 120%; at rank 3 they are 15 m and 150%. The critical chance benefit is explicitly conditional on being invisible.
Rank investment
The augment reaches rank 3. Its listed rank steps cost 30, 60, and 120 Endo, with credits costs of 1,449, 2,898, and 5,796. Ranking increases both the ally concealment radius and the stated critical chance bonus. Consider the higher ranks if keeping allies within range and gaining the larger invisible-state bonus are important to your use of Smoke Screen.
Different Ash augment roles
Tear Gas is identified as a Conclave variant that blinds nearby enemies, while Teleport Rush modifies Teleport and Rising Storm modifies Blade Storm. They serve different ability roles; neither comparison changes Smoke Shadow's ally concealment and critical chance effects.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- Uses a mod slot for an effect whose ally coverage depends on proximity to Ash.
- The critical chance benefit applies while invisible.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Expecting allies outside the rank-dependent radius to receive concealment.
- Expecting the critical chance bonus when not invisible.
- Treating the Conclave Tear Gas variant as the same standard augment.
