Understand Steel Fiber
Useful when…
- Increase Armor on a compatible Warframe.
- Compare its flat Armor bonus with another mod's explicitly different defensive effect.
Effect and compatibility
Steel Fiber grants +9% Armor at rank 0, +55% at rank 5, and +100% at rank 10. It is a standard Warframe mod with Vazarin polarity and base drain 4. It is explicitly incompatible with Umbral Fiber and Flawed Steel Fiber, so those cannot be equipped together with it.
Rank investment
The listed rank 9-to-10 fusion step costs 5,120 Endo and 247,296 Credits, and rank 10 lists +100% Armor. Since the supplied rank effects do not give a rank 9 percentage, compare the final-step cost with your available resources rather than assuming a specific size for the last increase.
Other listed defensive options
Flawed Steel Fiber lists +32% Armor at rank 3. Umbral Fiber lists +100% Armor and +11% Tau Resistance, with Umbra polarity and base drain 6. Adaptation has a different condition and effect: after taking damage, it grants +10% resistance to that damage type for 20 seconds, stacking up to 90%. These descriptions distinguish flat Armor bonuses from Adaptation's damage-type resistance; Steel Fiber cannot be equipped with Umbral Fiber or Flawed Steel Fiber.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The final listed rank step costs 5,120 Endo and 247,296 Credits.
- Cannot be equipped with Umbral Fiber or Flawed Steel Fiber.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Treating Armor and Adaptation's damage-type resistance as the same effect.
- Trying to equip Steel Fiber with Umbral Fiber or Flawed Steel Fiber.
- Assuming the rank 9 Armor percentage when it is not provided.
