Understand Strain Consume
Useful when…
- Use on a Warframe build that can keep dead Maggots within 10 meters so the effect can activate.
- Consider ranking it when the temporary health and regeneration matter more than the Endo, Credits, and mod capacity spent.
What triggers the effect?
When dead Maggots are within 10 meters, Strain Consume consumes them and grants a temporary bonus for 45 seconds. At rank 0, it provides 1% maximum Health and 0.5 Health per second of regeneration; at rank 3, it provides 4% maximum Health and 2 Health per second. The effect depends on dead Maggots being in range, so it is not a passive always-on bonus.
When is it useful?
Its practical fit is a setup that produces Maggots often enough for nearby dead ones to be consumed. If that condition is unreliable, the mod may contribute little to survival. Vital Systems Bypass also lists health regeneration, but it is a Conclave mod and adds shield recharge delay; it is not a direct substitute for this Standard mod.
Rank and slot considerations
This is a standard Warframe mod with Naramon polarity, base drain 2, and maximum rank 3. Ranking raises the listed bonus from 1% Health and 0.5 regeneration per second at rank 0 to 4% and 2 per second at rank 3. Fusion uses 30, 60, then 120 Endo across successive ranks, with Credits costing 1,449, 2,898, then 5,796. Weigh the modest incremental gains against those costs and the slot's capacity; the input does not specify the exact drain at each rank.
Practical limitations
Do not count on the bonus without dead Maggots nearby, and do not mistake its 45-second duration for permanent Health or regeneration. The listed Conclave alternatives have different effects and mode labels: Adept Surge trades Health for mobility, while Adrenaline Boost trades Health for Energy, so neither reproduces Strain Consume's trigger or benefit.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The Health and regeneration bonus is conditional on dead Maggots being within 10 meters and lasts 45 seconds.
- Increasing the effect requires Endo and Credits, and the mod occupies a standard Warframe slot.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Equipping it without a reliable way to produce dead Maggots nearby.
- Treating the 45-second bonus as permanent or as unconditional regeneration.
