Understand Thumper
Useful when…
- Equip on Djinn when you want it to begin attacking visible enemies at greater distance.
How does Thumper work?
At rank 0, Djinn attacks the first visible enemy within 35 m. At rank 3, this rises to 50 m, and at rank 5 it reaches 60 m. The condition is visibility: the description does not say Thumper targets enemies through obstructions or selects a particular enemy beyond being the first visible one.
When should you rank it?
The main rank benefit is increased acquisition distance. Raise it if engaging enemies sooner at range matters to your Djinn setup; otherwise, a lower rank retains the core behavior at shorter distance. Its listed base drain is 0, and fusion costs increase at higher ranks.
How does it differ from other Djinn precepts?
Fatal Attraction draws nearby enemies toward you and detonates them at close range, while Reawaken concerns Djinn recovery and overshields. Those provide different behaviors; they are not equivalent replacements for Thumper's visible-enemy targeting.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- Its stated benefit is longer range, not increased attack damage.
- The targeting condition requires a visible enemy.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Do not treat the 60 m maximum as unconditional targeting through walls; the stated condition is visibility.
