Understand Umbral Vitality
Useful when…
- Increase Warframe Health while also gaining Tau Resistance.
- Use when the Umbral polarity and combined bonuses suit the build.
What it grants
At rank 0, Umbral Vitality grants +9% Health and +1% Tau Resistance. At rank 5 it grants +55% Health and +6% Tau Resistance. Rank 10 provides +100% Health and +11% Tau Resistance. It is a standard Warframe mod with Umbral polarity and a maximum rank of 10.
Rank investment and fit
Fusion improves both bonuses. Example costs are 40 Endo and 1,932 Credits for rank 0→1, 1,280 Endo and 61,824 Credits for 5→6, and 20,480 Endo and 989,184 Credits for 9→10. Since upper ranks cost much more, choose a stopping rank based on the Health and resistance bonuses you want and your capacity. Base drain is 6. It is incompatible with Vitality, Archon Vitality, Flawed Vitality, and Parasitic Vitality.
How it compares
Standard Vitality also grants +100% Health, has Vazarin polarity, and lists base drain 2. Umbral Vitality adds +11% Tau Resistance but has Umbral polarity and base drain 6. Archon Vitality grants +100% Health and has an additional effect: status effects from abilities that deal Heat Damage are applied twice. Those are different tradeoffs, and the named Vitality mods are incompatible with Umbral Vitality. Flawed Vitality grants +25% Health.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- Upper-rank fusion costs rise steeply.
- Its base drain is higher than the listed standard Vitality, and the mods are mutually incompatible.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Treating Umbral Vitality as an add-on to Vitality or one of its named incompatible variants.
- Ignoring the substantial cost of the final fusion ranks.
