Understand Archaic Petra
Useful when…
- Supporting party damage for an element represented by a collected Crystallize shard or Lunar-Crystallize reaction.
- Adding Geo damage to the wearer with the two-piece bonus.
What activates the four-piece bonus?
Collecting an Elemental Shard created through Crystallize, or triggering a Lunar-Crystallize reaction, grants all party members a 35% DMG Bonus for that particular element for 10 seconds. Only one form of Elemental DMG Bonus can be gained this way at a time. The two-piece bonus separately grants 15% Geo DMG Bonus.
When should you consider it?
The set fits a support role when the wearer can obtain the relevant shard or trigger Lunar-Crystallize and the party can use the resulting element bonus during its duration. The element matters: activating the effect for one element does not provide a general damage increase for every element. Its Geo two-piece bonus can also contribute to the wearer's Geo damage independently of the support effect.
How does it differ from other support sets?
Scroll of the Hero of Cinder City instead grants bonuses after a reaction related to the wearer's Elemental Type, with an additional increase if the wearer is in Nightsoul's Blessing when triggering it. Silken Moon's Serenade grants party Elemental Mastery after the wearer deals Elemental DMG and has a Lunar Reaction DMG effect. These have different activation requirements and benefit profiles; neither is automatically interchangeable with Archaic Petra's shard- or Lunar-Crystallize-triggered element-specific bonus.
What limits its value?
The four-piece bonus depends on collecting the shard or triggering Lunar-Crystallize, then only buffs the particular element associated with that trigger. The listed effect allows only one form of Elemental DMG Bonus at a time, so it cannot supply simultaneous bonuses for multiple elements through repeated triggers.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- Requires the wearer to obtain a Crystallize shard or trigger Lunar-Crystallize to activate the party buff.
- The four-piece effect is element-specific and permits only one such bonus form at a time.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Assuming the four-piece bonus increases every element's damage at once.
- Forgetting that a shard must be obtained or Lunar-Crystallize triggered.
