Understand Blizzard Strayer
Useful when…
- Increasing Cryo damage with two pieces.
- Gaining conditional CRIT Rate against Cryo-affected or Frozen opponents.
What do the bonuses require?
Two pieces grant 15% Cryo DMG Bonus. With four pieces, attacking an opponent affected by Cryo increases the character's CRIT Rate by 20%. If the opponent is Frozen, the set adds a further 20% CRIT Rate. The added CRIT Rate is therefore tied to the target's status when attacked.
When should you use it?
Consider the set for a Cryo damage setup that can attack Cryo-affected enemies; the Frozen condition provides the additional increase when it is met. The two-piece Cryo bonus remains distinct from the four-piece target-status effect, so the set can still contribute Cryo damage even when its conditional CRIT Rate is not active.
How do the alternatives differ?
Disenchantment in Deep Shadow increases Superconduct and Stellar-Conduct reaction damage and grants CRIT Rate for attacks against enemies affected by either reaction. A Day Carved From Rising Winds provides ATK bonuses after attacks hit and has a Witch's Homework condition for its added CRIT Rate. Berserker instead adds CRIT Rate while the wearer is below 70% HP. These sets have different damage types and trigger conditions; they are comparisons rather than automatic replacements for Cryo-focused bonuses.
What limits the four-piece effect?
Its CRIT Rate depends on attacking an opponent affected by Cryo, and the extra increase depends on Frozen status. Do not budget the full conditional amount against targets whose required statuses are absent.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- Four-piece CRIT Rate depends on enemy status.
- The two-piece bonus specifically benefits Cryo damage.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Counting both CRIT Rate increases when the target is not Frozen.
- Assuming the four-piece CRIT Rate applies without attacking an opponent affected by Cryo.
