Understand Lavawalker
Useful when…
- Damage builds that attack Pyro-affected opponents
- Pyro resistance in encounters where that defensive stat is useful
Bonuses and conditions
Two pieces increase Pyro RES by 40%. Four pieces increase damage against opponents affected by Pyro by 35%. The damage bonus depends on the opponent having the Pyro status when hit.
Practical fit
The four-piece bonus rewards maintaining Pyro on the target; reactions or other effects that remove or replace that status can make it unavailable. The two-piece resistance bonus is defensive and does not itself increase damage. Check that the intended attack pattern can meet the target-status condition before investing in the full set.
Related conditional sets
Thundersoother uses a parallel condition for Electro-affected opponents, with 40% Electro RES from two pieces and 35% damage against Electro-affected targets from four. Blizzard Strayer instead grants Cryo damage and conditional CRIT Rate against Cryo-affected or Frozen opponents. These are different element and status requirements, not interchangeable bonuses.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The four-piece damage bonus depends on the target being affected by Pyro.
- The two-piece bonus is Pyro resistance, not general damage reduction.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Assuming the damage bonus applies after the target's Pyro status has been removed or replaced.
- Reading Pyro RES as resistance to all damage types.
