Understand Thundersoother
Useful when…
- Increasing Electro resistance with two pieces.
- Increasing damage against opponents while they are affected by Electro.
What do the set bonuses require?
Two pieces increase Electro RES by 40%. Four pieces increase damage against opponents affected by Electro by 35%. The four-piece condition is on the target's status: the opponent must be affected by Electro when the damage is dealt.
When should you consider four pieces?
This set suits damage dealt while the target remains Electro-affected. If that condition is not present, the stated 35% increase does not apply. For a different conditional reaction focus, Disenchantment in Deep Shadow increases Superconduct and Stellar-Conduct reaction damage and gives the attack CRIT Rate against opponents affected by those reactions. Lavawalker has a parallel structure to Thundersoother but requires opponents affected by Pyro, so its condition is element-specific rather than a general alternative.
What is the defensive bonus?
The two-piece effect is Electro resistance, not general damage reduction. It can be considered for Electro resistance, but it does not remove the four-piece requirement that a target be Electro-affected for the damage increase.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The four-piece damage increase requires an opponent affected by Electro.
- The two-piece defensive bonus applies to Electro RES only.
- The four-piece bonus is conditional on target status rather than a universal damage increase.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Assuming the 35% bonus applies when the opponent is not Electro-affected.
- Treating Electro RES as resistance to all elements.
- Choosing Lavawalker without accounting for its Pyro-affected target condition.
