Understand Long Night's Oath
Useful when…
- Plunging Attack focused damage
- Characters whose Charged Attacks and Skill hits can help build the plunging bonus
Bonuses and stack building
Two pieces increase Plunging Attack DMG by 25%. With four pieces, a Plunging Attack hit grants one Radiance Everlasting stack, while a Charged Attack or Elemental Skill hit grants two. Each of those three attack types can trigger its stack gain once per second. Each stack increases Plunging Attack DMG by 15% for 6 seconds, up to five stacks; each stack's duration is tracked independently.
Practical use
Charged Attacks and Skill hits can build the plunge-specific bonus even though the resulting bonus applies to Plunging Attacks. Reaching five stacks requires stack-generating hits, and individual stacks expire on their own six-second timers. The two-piece bonus remains Plunging Attack damage even before the four-piece stacks are built.
Alternatives and tradeoffs
Flower of Paradise Lost increases the wearer's Bloom, Hyperbloom, Burgeon, and Lunar-Bloom reaction damage, including stacks from triggering those reactions. It serves a reaction-damage focus rather than Long Night's Oath's plunge focus. Song of Days Past is healing-based support: healing records toward a later damage effect, so it has a different trigger and role.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The four-piece bonus raises Plunging Attack damage only, not all damage.
- Stacks last 6 seconds independently, so they can fall off at different times.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Counting Charged Attack and Skill stack gains as a bonus to those attacks; they increase Plunging Attack DMG.
- Assuming all five stacks share one refresh timer.
