Understand Viridescent Venerer
Useful when…
- Increasing Anemo damage with two pieces.
- Boosting Swirl damage and reducing resistance to an element infused in Swirl.
What do the four-piece effects do?
Two pieces grant 15% Anemo DMG Bonus. Four pieces increase Swirl reaction damage by 60% and Stellar Swirl reaction damage by 20%. The set also decreases opponents' RES to the element infused in Swirl by 40% for 10 seconds. Triggering Stellar Swirl on an opponent also decreases that opponent's Cryo RES by 40%. Resistance debuffs of the same elemental type do not stack.
When should you consider it?
The four-piece set is relevant when the wearer can trigger Swirl and party damage benefits from reducing resistance to the infused element. The elemental resistance reduction follows the element infused in Swirl; Stellar Swirl has the additional stated Cryo RES reduction. Scroll of the Hero of Cinder City supports nearby party members with Elemental damage bonuses after the wearer triggers a reaction related to their Elemental Type, with a larger bonus when the wearer is in Nightsoul's Blessing. Heart of the Furnace instead supports Stellar Glimmer reactions. These provide different buffs and have different trigger conditions.
How does it compare to Archaic Petra?
Archaic Petra grants a party DMG Bonus for the element of an Elemental Shard obtained through Crystallize or after triggering Lunar-Crystallize, and only one elemental bonus form can be active at a time. Viridescent Venerer instead requires Swirl for its resistance reduction. Consider Petra only when its shard or Lunar-Crystallize condition is relevant; its condition is not a substitute for the Swirl trigger.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The resistance reduction requires Swirl and applies to the element infused in it.
- Stellar Swirl's additional resistance reduction is specifically Cryo RES.
- Resistance debuffs of the same elemental type do not stack.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Assuming the resistance reduction applies to every element.
- Treating the Stellar Swirl Cryo RES reduction as a general extra debuff.
- Expecting same-element resistance debuffs to stack.
