Understand Baizhu
Useful when…
- Healing party members with his Elemental Skill and active character with his Burst.
- Supporting Burning, Bloom, Hyperbloom, Burgeon, Lunar-Bloom, Aggravate, and Spread damage when allies are healed by Seamless Shields.
- Exploration healing from interacting with certain harvestable items.
How do his skill and Burst work?
Universal Diagnosis sends a Gossamer Sprite to attack nearby opponents, then return and heal nearby party members. It returns after three attacks or if no opponents are nearby; its healing scales with Baizhu's Max HP. Holistic Revivification lasts 14 seconds and costs 80 Energy. It creates a Seamless Shield that absorbs Dendro damage with 250% effectiveness and generates a new shield every 2.5 seconds. Each shield heals the active character and triggers Dendro damage when a new shield is generated while a character is protected, or when a shield expires or breaks. The listed shield duration is 2.5 seconds, so this is recurring brief protection rather than an uninterrupted long shield.
When does his reaction support help?
All Things Are of the Earth grants Year of Verdant Favor to characters healed by Seamless Shields for 6 seconds. For each 1,000 Max HP Baizhu has, up to 50,000 HP, it increases Burning, Bloom, Hyperbloom, and Burgeon reaction damage by 2%, Lunar-Bloom damage by 0.7%, and the damage bonus provided by Aggravate and Spread by 0.8%. This makes shield healing the condition for the support effect; do not assume every party member receives it without being healed. His passive also changes his own bonus based on the active character's HP: below 50%, he gains 20% Healing Bonus; at 50% or higher, he gains 25% Dendro DMG Bonus.
What should you invest in?
Max HP has direct value for his skill healing, Burst healing, shield absorption, and the reaction support that scales up to 50,000 HP. If prioritizing talent levels, his Skill and Burst are the abilities tied to those support functions; normal, charged, and plunging attacks are separate Dendro damage options and are less central when he is used primarily for healing. Ascension raises character progression, while combat talent levels are separate investments. His harvestable-item healing is a small exploration convenience, not a combat replacement for his Skill or Burst.
What are the limitations?
The shield is short-lived and its absorption scales from a small fraction of Max HP plus a flat amount, so do not treat it as durable protection. The Burst's 80 Energy cost is substantial; plan around whether it can be used when needed instead of assuming it is always available. The reaction buff requires healing from Seamless Shields and lasts only 6 seconds.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- His kit supplies several forms of healing, but the Burst shield is brief and does not provide long-lasting interruption protection.
- Max HP supports healing, shield absorption, and reaction bonuses, while the listed active-character passive switches to a Dendro damage bonus at 50% HP or more.
- The Burst's 80 Energy cost can make consistent access a planning concern.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Treating the Seamless Shield as long-lasting protection even though it is renewed every 2.5 seconds and lasts 2.5 seconds.
- Assuming Year of Verdant Favor applies without a character being healed by Seamless Shields.
- Ignoring the Burst's 80 Energy cost when relying on its healing and reaction support.
