Understand Before the Tutorial Mission Starts
Useful when…
- A Nihility wearer whose debuffs benefit from Effect Hit Rate.
- A wearer who can attack enemies while their DEF is reduced to trigger Energy restoration.
What conditions govern its effect?
At S1, it gives 20% Effect Hit Rate. Attacking an enemy with reduced DEF restores 4 Energy. At S5, those values become 40% Effect Hit Rate and 8 Energy. The Energy restoration has two requirements: the wearer must attack, and the target must have reduced DEF.
How does it differ from other Nihility options?
Eyes of the Prey also grants Effect Hit Rate, but its second bonus increases DoT. Boundless Choreo gives CRIT Rate and increases CRIT DMG dealt to enemies that are Slowed or have reduced DEF. Along the Passing Shore instead improves CRIT DMG and damage against targets it marks, with an additional Ultimate bonus. Those effects serve different damage or debuff profiles; the shared Path does not make them interchangeable.
What should you upgrade?
Promotion advances the Cone through six stages. Superimposition raises Effect Hit Rate and the Energy restored per qualifying attack; the listed superimposition steps require a Lil’ Twisty Bubble Gum. Invest in promotion for its level progression. Consider superimposition if the wearer regularly meets the DEF-reduced-target condition and the added Energy is useful.
What can prevent the Energy trigger?
Attacking a target is not enough if that target does not have reduced DEF. Slowing an enemy is not listed as a qualifying condition for this Cone’s Energy restoration; the description specifically requires reduced DEF.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- Energy restoration depends on attacking a DEF-reduced enemy.
- Other Nihility Light Cones can better match DoT or CRIT-focused effects.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Assuming any attack restores Energy regardless of the target’s DEF state.
- Treating Slow as equivalent to reduced DEF for the Energy trigger.
- Expecting its effect to increase DoT damage.
