Understand Eyes of the Prey
Useful when…
- A Nihility wearer who deals DoT.
- A build where additional Effect Hit Rate is useful for the wearer's effects.
What does it increase?
At S1, the wearer gains 20% Effect Hit Rate and 24% DoT. At S5, these rise to 40% and 48%. The description states both as direct increases and gives no additional target, timing, or stack condition.
What other Nihility effects do?
Before the Tutorial Mission Starts also raises Effect Hit Rate, and restores Energy when the wearer attacks an enemy with reduced DEF. Along the Passing Shore grants CRIT DMG and applies Mirage Fizzle when the wearer hits an enemy, increasing damage against that target and adding Ultimate damage. Boundless Choreo provides CRIT Rate and increases CRIT DMG against enemies that are Slowed or have reduced DEF. These effects are oriented around different damage and combat conditions; they do not reproduce Eyes of the Prey's stated DoT increase.
How should I invest?
Promotion raises the Light Cone through six stages. Superimposition increases both Effect Hit Rate and DoT from S1 through S5, and the example steps consume a copy of Eyes of the Prey. The direct upgrade is most relevant when both listed stats contribute to the wearer's role.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The damage increase is specific to DoT rather than all damage types.
- Its listed effect has no attack-triggered Energy recovery or target debuff scaling.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Treating its DoT increase as a general damage increase.
- Assuming Effect Hit Rate itself increases DoT damage; the Light Cone lists these as separate effects.
