Why Does the Ocean Sing

Nihility Light Cone focused on debuffs, damage-over-time amplification, and ally Speed.

Introduced in v3.5

Why Does the Ocean Sing rewards a wearer who repeatedly applies debuffs to enemies: it can increase those enemies’ damage taken from DoT and grant Speed to allies who attack them. Consider it for a debuffing Nihility wearer in a team that can make use of DoT and frequent attacks.

Why Does the Ocean Sing GUIDE

Understand Why Does the Ocean Sing

Useful when…

  • Amplify DoT against enemies the wearer can repeatedly debuff.
  • Give a temporary Speed increase to allies who attack an Enthralled target.

How Enthrallment and its effects work

The wearer has 40% Effect Hit Rate at S1, rising to 60% at S5. When the wearer inflicts a debuff, there is an 80% base chance to inflict Enthrallment for 3 turns. While the target is Enthralled, each debuff the wearer applies adds 5% received DoT, up to 6 stacks; that per-stack amount rises to 10% at S5. The effect’s 80% base chance and three-turn duration do not change with superimposition. Effects of the same type cannot stack.

Using the ally Speed benefit

When an ally attacks an Enthralled target, that attacker gains 10% Speed for 3 turns at S1, or 20% at S5. This is a useful secondary benefit when allies attack the debuffed target during the window. If the wearer is knocked down, all Enthrallment is removed, so the target-based benefits end with it.

Investment and alternatives

Promotion raises the Light Cone’s level and uses Credits and listed materials; superimposition raises its effect values and consumes a duplicate copy at each shown step. If improving it, promotion is the direct level progression, while superimposition is a copy-intensive choice. Along the Passing Shore instead boosts its wearer’s CRIT DMG and personal damage after it hits targets; Before the Tutorial Mission Starts offers Effect Hit Rate and conditional Energy when attacking DEF-reduced enemies. These alternatives serve different damage or energy needs and do not reproduce this Cone’s DoT stacking and ally Speed effects.

Limitations and tradeoffs

  • The DoT increase requires the wearer to apply multiple debuffs to the same Enthralled target.
  • Its control effect has a base chance, and its effects do not stack with effects of the same type.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Treating the 80% base chance as guaranteed; it is a base chance, not an assured application.
  • Expecting another character’s debuffs to build the DoT stacks; the text specifies debuffs applied by the wearer.
