Understand Celestial Differentiator
Useful when…
- A wearer whose current CRIT DMG reaches 120% and whose first attack is important.
- A build that can use the 16% CRIT DMG even if it does not meet the conditional CRIT Rate threshold.
How does the effect work?
The two-piece bonus always adds 16% CRIT DMG. At 120% current CRIT DMG or higher, the wearer gains 60% CRIT Rate upon entering battle; that temporary bonus ends after the wearer's first attack. Do not treat it as a persistent increase for later attacks.
When should you consider it?
It is most relevant when the wearer meets the CRIT DMG threshold and can benefit from the opening attack's extra CRIT Rate. Without the threshold, the set still grants 16% CRIT DMG, but loses its defining conditional effect.
Which alternatives fit different damage patterns?
Inert Salsotto supplies 8% CRIT Rate and, at 50% current CRIT Rate, boosts Ultimate and Follow-Up ATK damage by 15%. Rutilant Arena supplies the same CRIT Rate and boosts Basic ATK and Skill damage by 20% at 70% CRIT Rate. These are more directly tied to the named attack types than Celestial Differentiator's first-attack window.
What should you avoid?
Do not assume the 60% CRIT Rate remains after the first attack, or count on it if current CRIT DMG is below 120%. Judge the set by what it actually contributes after that opening attack as well.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The large CRIT Rate effect requires 120% current CRIT DMG and lasts only through the first attack.
- Its attack window may be less relevant when the wearer needs sustained bonuses across multiple attacks.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Treating the 60% CRIT Rate as a lasting battle bonus.
- Ignoring the 120% current CRIT DMG requirement.
- Equipping it for a later attack while overlooking that the bonus ends after the first attack.
