Understand Knight of Purity Palace
Useful when…
- Use two pieces when the wearer benefits from DEF, including when assembling a four-piece set is inconvenient.
- Use four pieces when the wearer creates Shields and more maximum absorbable damage is useful.
What does each piece threshold do?
Two pieces increase DEF by 15%. Four pieces increase by 20% the maximum damage absorbable by a Shield created by the wearer. The four-piece wording concerns the Shield's maximum absorbable damage, not a general increase to shields provided by other characters.
Who benefits from the full set?
The four-piece bonus is tied to Shields created by the wearer. It is relevant when that character supplies Shields and the shield cap matters to survival. The two-piece DEF bonus is independently useful to a DEF-based wearer, even if the four-piece condition is not valuable.
How does it differ from a shield-support option?
Self-Enshrouded Recluse increases Shield Effect provided by the wearer and gives CRIT DMG to an ally holding that wearer's Shield. Knight instead raises DEF and the maximum damage a wearer-created Shield can absorb. Those are distinct effects: compare whether the need is a larger absorbable cap or stronger shield provision with an ally offensive benefit. As Navigator Isee Sees It and Band of Sizzling Thunder are damage sets with Skill/Ultimate or Lightning/Skill-triggered effects, not direct shield alternatives.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The four-piece bonus applies to Shields created by the wearer, so it does not improve an unrelated ally's Shield.
- DEF and shield-cap gains may be less useful when the wearer does not provide Shields or does not benefit from DEF.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Treating the four-piece effect as a general 20% increase to every Shield Effect.
- Expecting it to improve Shields created by another character.
