Understand Abating Link
Useful when…
- Reducing armor on enemies that Trinity has targeted with Link.
- A Trinity build that regularly uses Link and can spare a standard mod slot for an augment.
What does it do?
The augment applies an armor reduction to enemies targeted by Link. It provides 30% at rank 0, 50% at rank 2, and 60% at rank 3. The effect is conditional on an enemy being targeted by Link; the stated percentage is armor reduction, not a direct weapon damage increase.
When is it useful?
It is most relevant when your Trinity play includes Link and you want linked, armored enemies to be easier to damage. The reduction does not apply to enemies outside Link’s targeting, so its value depends on using the ability on the targets you need to weaken.
Rank and slot investment
This is a rank 3 Rare Trinity mod with Zenurik polarity and base drain 6. Its listed fusion steps cost 30, 60, then 120 Endo, and 1,449, 2,898, then 5,796 credits. Rank 3 raises the stated reduction from 30% at rank 0 to 60%; whether to spend the final upgrade depends on how often you use Link and how much mod capacity you can allocate. It is a standard-slot augment, so account for the slot in your build.
How it differs from other Trinity augments
The alternatives listed serve different conditions: Pool of Life concerns drops from enemies marked by Well of Life; Champion’s Blessing grants weapon critical chance based on healing allies with Blessing; Vampire Leech converts excess Energy into Shields. They are not interchangeable armor-reduction effects. Choose among them based on the ability and outcome your build uses.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The armor reduction only affects enemies targeted by Link.
- Uses a standard mod slot and mod capacity for an ability-specific effect.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Expecting the reduction to affect enemies that are not targeted by Link.
- Treating the stated armor reduction as an equal percentage increase to weapon damage.
