Understand Animal Instinct
Useful when…
- Missions where seeing nearby loot and enemy positions is useful.
Radar effects
The standard Companion mod has Naramon polarity and base drain 6. At rank 0 it grants +5 m Loot Radar and +3 m Enemy Radar; rank 3 grants +20 m and +12 m; rank 5 grants +30 m and +18 m. The two radar bonuses have different ranges.
Ranking and slot choice
Animal Instinct has five ranks. Its listed rank 0-to-1 step costs 30 Endo and 1,449 Credits, while rank 4-to-5 costs 480 Endo and 23,184 Credits. Consider the larger radar ranges against those costs and the companion mod slot you use.
Alternatives serve other purposes
Primed Animal Instinct lists +55 m Loot Radar and +33 m Enemy Radar, but is explicitly incompatible with Animal Instinct. Accelerated Deflection instead improves companion shield recharge and reduces shield recharge delay. Aerial Bond rewards airborne kills by reducing Companion Recovery Time and creates a cold field while the Warframe is airborne. These options serve different functions; the latter two are not radar replacements.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- Uses a companion mod slot for radar utility.
- Higher ranks require increasing Endo and Credits.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Assuming Loot Radar and Enemy Radar have the same range.
- Trying to equip Primed Animal Instinct together with Animal Instinct.
