Understand Cathode Current
Useful when…
- Add a Rotorswell discharge when eliminating enemies during Cathode Grace.
- Extend Rotorswell through kills made while Cathode Grace is active.
Trigger and effect
The trigger is an enemy elimination while Cathode Grace is active. That kill releases an additional discharge from Rotorswell with damage listed as 50% at rank 0, 150% at rank 2, and 200% at rank 3; it also extends Rotorswell’s duration by the same amount. The input does not define the duration amount or how the damage figure is calculated, so do not read it as a final damage total.
Fit and ranking
Cathode Current is a Rare Gyre augment for a standard mod slot, with Zenurik polarity, base drain 6, and maximum rank 3. Rank it if the additional discharge’s stated damage percentage is central to your use: the listed figure rises to 200% at rank 3. Fusion requires increasing Endo and Credits at higher ranks, so weigh that gain against other upgrades to the build.
How it differs from other Gyre augments
The candidate augments address other mechanics: Coil Recharge adds recall behavior and electrical effects to Gyratory Sphere; Reverse Rotorswell redirects some received damage as Electricity damage; Conductive Sphere affects projectiles passing through Arcsphere. Choose among them based on the ability effect you want, rather than treating them as interchangeable ways to extend Rotorswell.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- Its additional discharge and duration extension require a kill while Cathode Grace is active.
- Ranking improves the stated discharge damage percentage but costs more fusion resources at higher ranks.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Expecting a kill outside Cathode Grace to trigger the additional discharge.
- Treating the listed damage percentage or duration extension as an absolute damage or time value; neither calculation is supplied.
