Charged Shell

Shotgun mod that adds Electricity damage.

Released Oct 25, 2012

Charged Shell adds Electricity damage to shotguns, reaching 90% at rank 5. Consider it when Electricity fits the weapon’s elemental setup and you can spend a standard mod slot and capacity on the bonus.

Charged Shell GUIDE

Understand Charged Shell

Useful when…

  • Add Electricity damage to a shotgun.
  • Use the rank scaling to balance the listed elemental bonus against fusion resources and mod capacity.

Effect and application

Charged Shell applies to shotguns and adds Electricity damage: 15% at rank 0, 60% at rank 3, and 90% at rank 5. It occupies a standard mod slot, has Naramon polarity, base drain 6, and maximum rank 5. It is explicitly incompatible with both Flawed Charged Shell and Primed Charged Shell.

Rank investment

Ranking increases the Electricity bonus, with rank 5 granting the listed 90%. Rank-up costs grow at later steps; going from rank 4 to 5 costs 320 Endo and 15,456 Credits. A lower rank retains a smaller bonus and can be a reasonable investment when capacity or fusion resources are constrained.

Variants and alternatives

Flawed Charged Shell reaches 40% Electricity at rank 3 with base drain 4; Primed Charged Shell reaches 165% at rank 10 with base drain 6. Both are incompatible with this mod, so they are alternatives rather than additional bonuses. Accelerated Blast offers a different package of Fire Rate and Puncture rather than Electricity.

Limitations and tradeoffs

  • Uses a standard mod slot and adds only Electricity damage.
  • The maximum rank costs more fusion resources; lower ranks provide less elemental bonus.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Trying to equip Charged Shell together with its Flawed or Primed variant.
  • Reading the listed Electricity bonus as final weapon damage.
