Prime fist weapon with stronger listed stats than standard Ankyros

Released Mar 5, 2014

Ankyros Prime is a mastery-rank-8 fist weapon with higher listed normal damage, critical chance, critical multiplier, and status chance than standard Ankyros. Consider it if you want a short-range fist weapon and can meet its higher mastery requirement.

Understand Ankyros Prime

Useful when…

  • Use quick close-range normals: 128 listed damage at about 1.25 attacks per second.
  • Use regular slams for area Impact damage and heavy slams for area Blast damage.
  • Use its two Madurai polarities as fitting considerations when planning mods.

What do its attacks do?

Normal attacks list 128 damage: 89.6 Impact, 19.2 Puncture, and 19.2 Slash, with 28% critical chance, a 2.4× critical multiplier, and 16% status chance. A regular slam is a separate area Impact mode listed at 256 damage, with falloff to 8 m; a heavy slam is area Blast listed at 384, with falloff to 9 m. Both slam modes list 10% status chance. Its normal attack range is 1.25 m, so the improved listed stats do not remove the need to fight close.

Compared with Ankyros

Against the standard Ankyros snapshot, Prime lists 128 rather than 90 normal damage, 28% rather than 20% critical chance, a 2.4× rather than 2× critical multiplier, and 16% rather than 10% status chance. Both list 1.25 m range and 0.9 follow-through. Prime requires mastery rank 8 versus rank 2, and has two Madurai polarities where the standard version lists none. The comparison describes these supplied stats; it does not account for acquisition or other current-game conditions.

Handling and investment

The weapon lists a 0.6-second heavy-attack wind-up and a five-second combo duration. Its two Madurai slots may help with a mod configuration, but there is no supported basis here for a specific build, spending order, or acquisition route. Fang Prime, Amanata, and Anku are different melee types in the supplied comparisons; their descriptions and stats do not make them direct substitutes for a short-range fist weapon.

Limitations and tradeoffs

  • The 1.25 m range remains very short despite the higher stats.
  • The mastery requirement is 8, six ranks above the standard Ankyros requirement.
  • Slam attacks have falloff, and their listed status chance differs from the normal attack.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Do not treat the Prime's 1.25 m range as improved over standard Ankyros; both list the same range.
  • Do not assume the normal attack's 16% status chance applies to either slam mode; both list 10%.
  • Do not infer availability or a farming route from the Prime and Vaulted tags.
