Understand Dual Heat Swords
Useful when…
- Use normal attacks for close-range slashing and multi-target melee.
- Use a regular or heavy slam when you want an area attack with Heat damage.
Normal attacks
The normal attack deals 147 listed damage: 102.9 Slash, 22.05 Impact, and 22.05 Puncture. It attacks at 0.917 speed, with 5% critical chance, a 1.5x critical multiplier, and 20% status chance. Listed range is 2.5 m.
Slam attacks
A regular slam is a separate area mode: it deals 294 Heat damage, with falloff from 0 to 8 m and 50% reduction at the far end. A heavy slam deals 441 Heat damage, with falloff from 0 to 9 m and 30% reduction. Both list 10% status chance; do not treat these as the normal attack's damage profile.
Fit and investment
The weapon requires Mastery Rank 3 and has one Naramon polarity. Its 5% critical chance is low, so a critical-focused investment has a modest starting base; its normal attack instead emphasizes Slash and has 20% status chance. Gram is a Heavy Blade with a higher listed critical chance, while Dual Skana is also dual swords and requires no Mastery Rank; these are handling and progression alternatives, not proven direct upgrades.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- Normal attacks are Slash-heavy, but their critical chance is 5%.
- Slam Heat damage is distinct from the normal attack's physical damage.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Do not count slam Heat damage as part of each normal strike.
- Do not read the listed 5% critical chance as 0.05%: the top-level value is a fraction.
