Understand Evensong
Useful when…
- Wounding enemies to prevent them from hurting allies
- Securing kills to empower ally weapons with Multishot
- Choosing between quick and charged projectile shots
What support does it provide?
Enemies cannot hurt allies while wounded by Evensong's arrows. Kills with Evensong empower ally weapons with Multishot. The protection is tied to wounding enemies, while the weapon buff is tied to kills. The description also names a Jade's Ensemble connection when Evensong, Cantare, and Harmony are used together.
How do the shots differ?
Quick Shot and Charged Shot are projectile attacks, each with 25% critical chance, a 2.2× critical multiplier, and 38% status chance. Charged Shot takes 1.2 seconds and has a different damage profile. Charged Radial Attack is a separate area attack with falloff beginning at 0.9 and ending at 4, with a listed 0.7 reduction. Evensong has a one-arrow magazine and a 0.6-second reload.
How do other bows differ?
Dread has a listed 50% critical chance, compared with Evensong's 25%; its description identifies it as the Stalker's calling card. Paris is described for stealth or open combat and uses a chargeable magnetic field to launch arrows. Cernos is described as suited to hunting highly shielded enemies. Their descriptions do not list Evensong's ally protection or kill-triggered Multishot effect.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- Protection depends on wounding enemies; the Multishot buff depends on kills.
- Charged Shot takes 1.2 seconds.
- The bow has a one-arrow magazine and fires projectile arrows.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Do not assume the protection applies without wounding enemies with Evensong's arrows.
- Do not assume the kill-triggered Multishot effect occurs from wounding alone.
- Charged Radial Attack's falloff applies to that attack entry, not the other shots.
