Understand Gauss Prime
Useful when…
- Charging the battery through movement
- Using Kinetic Plating against listed damage types and stagger or knockdown
- Choosing Cold or Heat application through Thermal Sunder’s separate modes
- Using Redline for weapon and casting speed increases
Movement and battery
Movement fills Gauss Prime’s battery. His passive ties shield recharge speed and recharge delay to battery level; numeric values are not provided. Mach Rush is a hyper-sprint that knocks over enemies and charges the battery, while crashing into a solid object generates a shockwave.
Defense and Thermal Sunder
Kinetic Plating converts a portion of absorbed Physical, Heat, Cold, and Blast damage into Energy and protects against stagger and knockdown. Its resistance depends on battery level. Thermal Sunder’s tap charges the battery and inflicts Cold Status nearby; holding reverses the process, drains the battery, and inflicts Heat Status.
Redline and Prime stats
Redline supercharges abilities and increases fire rate, attack speed, reload speed, and casting speed. When the battery is past the redline, electricity arcs periodically and explodes when the ability is deactivated. Gauss Prime has 270 health, 550 shields, and 185 armor. It lists Madurai, Naramon, and Vazarin polarities and a Naramon aura polarity.
Comparison
Compared with standard Gauss, Gauss Prime has 95 more listed shields and one additional listed polarity; both have 270 health and 185 armor. Hildryn Prime’s description emphasizes shield-powered abilities, while Oberon’s emphasizes healing and ally support.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The passive shield recharge benefits and Kinetic Plating resistance depend on battery level.
- Thermal Sunder’s two modes have opposite battery effects and apply different Status types.
- The comparison establishes higher listed shields and an additional polarity, not different ability descriptions.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Assuming Prime changes Thermal Sunder’s tap and hold behavior.
- Using unresolved battery values as precise resistance or recharge calculations.
- Treating Redline’s speed increases as explicitly conditioned on being past the redline; that condition is stated for the periodic arcs and deactivation explosion.
