Understand Nidus
Useful when…
- Hit groups with Virulence to steal energy and build its destructive force for every five enemies struck.
- Gather enemies with Larva; kills while they are held have a chance to generate Mutation.
- Link to an ally to increase both characters’ Ability Strength and Weapon Damage, or link an enemy to make it take some damage inflicted on Nidus.
- Use Ravenous with Virulence to burst maggots and build Mutation.
Effects and resource conditions
Virulence ruptures the ground with a damaging fungal growth and steals energy from each enemy hit. For every five enemies hit, the Infestation mutates and multiplies its destructive force. Larva’s tendrils latch onto nearby enemies and pull them in; enemies killed while held have a chance of generating Mutation. Parasitic Link boosts Ability Strength and Weapon Damage for Nidus and an ally when cast on the ally; when cast on an enemy, the linked target takes some of the damage inflicted on Nidus. Ravenous swarms nearby enemies with maggots that burst when hit by Virulence, benefit from Mutation, and add to Mutation when they hit enemies.
Survival and practical use
Nidus has 675 health, 350 armor, and no shields. His passive says that if he is killed with at least a threshold number of Mutation stacks, those stacks are consumed to grant invulnerability and restore health; the threshold and effect values are unresolved. His kit therefore uses a distinct resource for ability scaling and a conditional safety effect, while Larva provides a way to gather targets for attacks.
Prime comparison and investment
Nidus Prime retains the same described abilities and has 825 health, 425 armor, and no shields, compared with Nidus’s 675 health and 350 armor. The Prime lists Madurai, Naramon, and Vazarin polarities, while the ordinary form lists Madurai and Vazarin. Voruna and Voruna Prime are described around a wolf pack, strength, and stealth; those summaries do not establish them as substitutes for Nidus’s Mutation mechanics. Consider the Prime if its listed stat and polarity changes support your build, while accounting for the resource-centered play style shared by both.
Limitations and common mistakes
The Mutation and death-passive thresholds are not numerically specified. Larva kills only have a chance to generate Mutation. Virulence gains its stated destructive-force increase for every five enemies hit; this is not the same condition as Ravenous adding Mutation when maggots hit enemies. Nidus has zero shields, so his listed survival profile centers on health and armor.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- Nidus has no shields, and his ability interactions rely on building and using Mutation.
- Mutation gains from Larva are chance-based according to the supplied description.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Confusing Virulence’s every-five-enemies effect with Mutation gained from Larva or Ravenous.
- Assuming Larva kills always generate Mutation.
- Treating Parasitic Link’s ally and enemy effects as interchangeable.
