Understand Voruna
Useful when…
- Setting up melee attacks after Shroud of Dynar invisibility ends
- Spreading multiple status effects through Fangs of Raksh
- Sustaining health and energy through melee kills and headshot kills
Tap and hold effects
Shroud of Dynar tap grants invisibility and speed; attacking ends invisibility, then a short melee buff increases critical damage, status chance, critical chance, and applies Slash Status Effects. A melee kill during the window extends that buff once per cast. Its hold instead increases Parkour Velocity. Fangs of Raksh tap applies five random Status Effects at 10 stacks each; the effects spread to nearby enemies when the target dies. Holding it grants Status Effect resistance.
Status, sustain, and the wolf attack
Lycath’s Hunt tap makes melee kills drop health orbs and headshot kills drop energy orbs. Killing an enemy affected by at least five Status Effects extends the hunt’s duration. Its hold increases Heavy Attack efficiency. Ulfrun’s Descent tap prepares five charges that lock onto enemies; damage increases against targets and nearby enemies affected by Status Effects, and a lethal attack doubles the damage of remaining charges. Holding Ulfrun’s Descent provides a safeguard: if Voruna falls during the effect, Ulfrun dies in her place.
Practical priorities and limitations
The ability descriptions reward coordinating status application with attacks: Fangs can seed a target with five effects, while Ulfrun deals increased damage to status-affected targets and Lycath lasts longer when killing targets with five or more effects. The melee buff from Shroud requires ending invisibility by attacking, and a melee kill only extends it once per cast. Voruna’s listed stats are 455 Health, 270 Shield, and 200 Armor; her passive lets the player call each wolf’s unique passive by holding Abilities in mission, though those passive effects are not described here. Voruna Prime’s comparison lists 265 Armor and shares the stated ability descriptions; Caliban candidates have different listed stats and are described as crowd-control and survivability options, not as Voruna’s kit replacements.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The melee buff requires an attack to end invisibility, and its extension is limited to one melee kill per cast.
- Several effects are conditional on enemy status effects or specific kill types.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Attacking during Shroud of Dynar invisibility and expecting it to remain active.
- Expecting the melee buff to extend repeatedly; its description allows one extension per cast.
- Using Ulfrun’s Descent without status-affected targets when relying on its stated increased damage.
