Understand Sampotes
Useful when…
- Clearing nearby groups with its ground and heavy slams.
- Using high critical multiplier on a hammer with 30% listed critical chance.
How its attacks work
Normal attacks deal 248 listed damage: 173.6 Impact, 37.2 Puncture, and 37.2 Slash, at 0.833 attacks per second, with 30% critical chance, 3× critical multiplier, and 28% status chance. A regular Slam is a separate area attack dealing 496 Impact, with 10% status chance and damage falloff from 0 to 6 m, reaching 50% reduction at the end. Heavy Slam deals 744 Blast in an area, also with 10% status chance; its falloff extends from 0 to 8 m and reaches 30% reduction. The weapon description identifies extended areas for both slam types.
Handling and fit
Sampotes has a 2.5 m melee range, 0.4 follow-through, and a 1.4 s heavy-attack wind-up. Those values make it better suited to deliberate, committed attacks than rapid repositioning between single targets. Its two Madurai polarities are a practical starting point when matching compatible mods; the listed stats alone do not prescribe a build.
When to compare alternatives
Argo & Vel is a sword-and-shield option with a heavy attack that sends a ricocheting glaive, so it offers a different heavy-attack pattern. Dual Keres Prime is a dual-sword option whose Heavy Attack Efficiency is enhanced specifically when Khora wields it. These are alternatives for different handling or a stated frame-specific benefit, not direct slam-hammer equivalents.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- Heavy attack wind-up is 1.4 s.
- Slam damage falls off with distance from the impact point.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Do not treat Heavy Slam as the same attack as regular Slam: their damage types, values, and falloff distances differ.
- Do not assume the Slam’s full listed damage applies uniformly across its area.
