Understand Wisp
Useful when…
- Providing health and healing, movement and attack speed, or nearby enemy stuns
- Teleporting to a spectral image or Reservoir
- Using Breach Surge to create sparks when affected enemies take damage
Motes and mobility
Reservoirs lets Wisp choose and summon a Reservoir whose Motes attach to and aid her and allies: Haste increases movement and attack speed, Vitality raises maximum health and heals over time, and Shock stuns nearby enemies. Wil-O-Wisp sends a spectral image to confuse and distract enemies; recasting teleports Wisp to it. Holding sends it faster and teleports on release. Wisp’s passive makes her invisible to enemies while airborne, so maintaining airborne movement can support that defensive effect.
Breach Surge and Sol Gate
Breach Surge opens a dimensional breach that overwhelms nearby enemies and causes them to release aggressive Surge sparks when damaged. Wisp can target a Reservoir to teleport to it and double the surge’s range. Sol Gate opens a portal and fires a solar plasma beam; holding fire doubles damage while increasing energy consumption. Enemies damaged during an attack become increasingly more vulnerable to Sol Gate for that attack’s duration. The beam’s hold option is therefore a damage and energy-cost choice, rather than a free increase.
Practical priorities and limits
Use Reservoir motes for the benefit that fits the situation: health and healing, movement and attack speed, or nearby stuns. Wil-O-Wisp provides a movement tool and distraction, while targeting a Reservoir with Breach Surge is the stated way to double its range. The listed base stats are 270 Health, 180 Shield, and 185 Armor; the frame has Madurai and Vazarin mod polarities and a Naramon aura polarity. Wisp Prime’s comparison lists higher Shield and Armor and additional polarities, with the same ability descriptions. Voruna is a distinct melee-status frame, not a substitute for Wisp’s mote support.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- Sol Gate’s held fire option doubles damage but increases energy consumption.
- Shock Mote stuns nearby enemies, which may be less useful when the player wants enemies to approach or remain unstunned.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Holding Sol Gate fire without accounting for its increased energy consumption.
- Expecting Breach Surge’s doubled range without targeting a Reservoir.
- Forgetting the listed passive invisibility requires being airborne.
