Understand Wukong
Useful when…
- Creating a twin whose behavior responds to Wukong’s weapon use
- Moving through enemies and healing Wukong and his twin with Cloud Walker
- Using Defy to capture damage and return it in a staff strike
Celestial Twin and Cloud Walker
Celestial Twin creates a companion that fights alongside Wukong. If Wukong attacks at range, the twin uses melee; if Wukong draws a blade, the twin provides covering fire. Reusing the ability commands the twin to attack a target with increased damage. Cloud Walker turns Wukong into a mist cloud that floats through the battlefield, dazes enemies encountered, and heals Wukong and his twin.
Defy, staff, and passive
Defy makes Wukong and his twin invulnerable and defies enemies to attack. All damage is captured and returned in a single strike from Wukong’s staff; the ability then grants bonus Armor relative to the damage captured. Primal Fury summons the iron staff. After fatal damage, Wukong’s passive automatically uses one of his mastered survival techniques. These techniques can be invoked only three times per mission.
Stats and comparisons
Wukong has 455 Health, 270 Shield, and 265 Armor, with Naramon and Vazarin mod polarities and a Madurai aura polarity. Wukong Prime’s comparison lists the same Health, 345 Shield, and 290 Armor. Revenant is described as having strong survivability and high damage, while Caliban is described as offering crowd control and survivability; these descriptions do not establish that either has Wukong’s twin and Cloud Walker abilities.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- Wukong’s passive survival techniques can be invoked only three times per mission.
- The twin’s attack behavior changes according to whether Wukong attacks at range or draws a blade.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Expecting the twin to use the same attack style regardless of Wukong’s weapon use.
- Treating the passive’s three survival activations as unlimited.
- Assuming Cloud Walker heals only Wukong; it also heals the twin.
