Understand Ordnance Cheap Shot
Useful when…
- Railjack combat where you regularly fire Ordnance and want to stretch available Munitions.
Effect and use
The chance to avoid consuming Munitions rises from 10% at rank 0 to 40% at rank 3 and 60% at rank 5. It applies to Ordnance weapons; it does not increase their damage or maximum Munitions. Consider it when ammunition conservation matters more to your setup than another Plexus benefit.
Slot and investment
This is a standard Plexus mod with Naramon polarity, a base drain of 2, and a maximum rank of 5. Fusion raises the chance in stages; the final step from rank 4 to 5 costs 480 Endo and 23,184 Credits. Stop short of maximum if the extra chance is not worth that investment for your use. No incompatible mod names are specified.
Related choices
Overloader increases maximum Ordnance Munitions by up to 50%, while Scourging Warheads gives Ordnance a chance to ignore enemy Shields. Those change capacity and shield interaction respectively; neither duplicates Cheap Shot’s chance to conserve Munitions. Artillery Cheap Shot applies to Forward Artillery and Dome Charges, so it is for a different weapon use.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The ammunition saving is chance-based, so it does not guarantee that any particular shot is free.
- Ranking it to 5 requires additional Endo and Credits for a higher chance.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Treating the 60% chance as a guarantee that Ordnance never consumes Munitions.
- Confusing ammunition conservation with increased maximum Munitions or shield bypass.
