Understand Ore Gaze
Useful when…
- Atlas setups that use Petrify and can kill enemies while they remain petrified.
- Players who want Petrified enemies scanned into the Codex as part of using Petrify.
Effect and conditions
Ore Gaze is a Petrify augment. Petrified enemies are scanned into the Codex and have a chance to drop additional loot when killed. That chance improves with rank: 10% at rank 0, 20% at rank 2, and 25% at rank 3. The extra-loot chance applies to kills of petrified enemies, not to enemies that were never affected by Petrify.
Slot and investment
This is a standard Atlas mod with Zenurik polarity, a base drain of 6, and a maximum rank of 3. The rank 2-to-3 step costs 120 Endo and 5,796 Credits for the increase from a 20% to a 25% additional-loot chance. Rank it further if that increase suits your use of Petrify. No incompatible mod names are specified.
Other Atlas augments
Path of Statues changes Landslide by leaving a trail that petrifies enemies; Rubble Heap enhances Landslide above 1400 Rubble; and Tectonic Fracture changes Tectonics walls. These serve different abilities or conditions. Ore Gaze is the choice among these when you want Petrify’s Codex scans and conditional extra-loot chance.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- Its loot benefit requires enemies to be petrified and then killed.
- The maximum rank costs more than leaving it at rank 2 for a 20% chance.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Expecting the extra-loot chance to apply to enemies that were not petrified.
- Treating the 25% chance as guaranteed additional loot.
